Your content stays yours
You give svc.nz only the narrow permission needed to operate the service for you and valid capability holders.
These Terms are the agreement between you and Anphase Ltd when you access or use the hosted svc.nz service. The short version: bring bytes you have the right to use, keep your capabilities safe, and do not rely on a private trial as your only copy.
You give svc.nz only the narrow permission needed to operate the service for you and valid capability holders.
Sharing it shares access. Losing it may mean losing access. svc.nz cannot recover a capability it stores only as a hash.
The private trial has no uptime promise, SLA, support deadline, or guaranteed backup and restore process.
“svc.nz”, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean the hosted svc.nz service and Anphase Ltd, a New Zealand company. “You” means the person or organisation using it. These Terms apply to the hosted service at svc.nz, in.svc.nz, and out.svc.nz. They do not automatically govern a separately operated, self-hosted copy of the software.
You accept these Terms when you use the service, upload or retrieve content, create a box or account, or exercise a capability. If you use svc.nz for an organisation, you confirm that you can bind that organisation. You must be legally able to enter this agreement; if you are under 18, use the service only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.
The Privacy Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, and the reporting rules linked from the policy centre form part of these Terms where they apply.
svc.nz stores arbitrary bytes in named, versioned containers called boxes and returns those bytes to holders of valid capabilities. Every write creates a version. Optional client-side encryption can turn content into ciphertext before it reaches the server.
The hosted service is currently invite-only for creating new boxes and accounts. An operator-issued account key is required for creation. Once a box exists, its valid capabilities, not the account key, control ordinary reads and writes.
We may change, add, limit, or remove features during the trial. We will try to avoid breaking existing use without reason, but the service is experimental and no particular feature, protocol, quota, or endpoint is guaranteed to remain available.
Possession of a valid capability is enough to exercise the access it grants. We cannot distinguish your intended recipient from someone else who copied or discovered that capability. You are responsible for:
Authorization header rather than in URLs;The service persists authentication capabilities as cryptographic hashes, so we cannot reveal or recover a lost token for you. A capability you intentionally upload as content is stored as opaque content and is your responsibility.
You retain ownership of content you upload. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, copy, transmit, secure, format, and otherwise process that content only as reasonably needed to operate, maintain, protect, and comply with law in relation to the service. This licence ends when the content is no longer held by the service, subject to the deletion and retention limits below.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to upload, process, and share your content, including any personal information it contains. You, not svc.nz, decide what is stored, which names are used, who receives a capability, and whether client-side encryption is appropriate.
We do not claim ownership of content, sell it, use it for advertising, or use it to train machine-learning models. We do not routinely inspect, classify, or index stored bodies. We may preserve, restrict, inspect, or disclose information where reasonably necessary to investigate a report, protect the service or others, or comply with law.
You must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy. In particular, do not use svc.nz for illegal content, rights violations, malware delivery, phishing, harassment, child sexual abuse or exploitation material, non-consensual intimate material, unauthorised security testing, denial-of-service activity, or attempts to bypass access and quota controls.
You are responsible for activity performed with credentials you control. If you operate an application on top of svc.nz, you are also responsible for giving your users appropriate notice and obtaining any permissions required for the data you send here.
API deletion or box expiry makes content inaccessible through normal service routes at once. The stored bytes are erased separately, by a reference-aware collection process that removes them only after every record referring to them has gone and a grace period of at least seventy-two hours has passed. Identical bytes uploaded to more than one box are stored once and shared, so they remain while any box still refers to them. Collection runs automatically once a day, and object storage discards the non-current copy it keeps of anything removed after seven days, so the whole sequence completes within thirty days of the last reference going and usually within a few days. Do not use svc.nz for content that requires faster or independently verifiable erasure.
Keep another copy of anything important. Do not use the private trial as the sole system of record, for safety-critical workloads, or where downtime, loss, corruption, delayed deletion, or unauthorised access could cause serious harm.
The trial is currently free. If paid plans are introduced, prices and any plan-specific terms will be presented before you incur charges.
You may stop using svc.nz at any time. A valid refresh capability can delete a box or version through the API, subject to the timing described above.
We may rate-limit, suspend, restrict, quarantine, invalidate, or delete a capability, object, box, account, or access to the service where we reasonably believe this is needed to enforce these Terms, address abuse or security risk, comply with law, protect people or infrastructure, manage the trial, or wind the service down. Urgent action may happen without advance notice. Where practical and lawful, we will try to give notice to an identifiable account holder.
On termination, provisions that by their nature should continue, such as ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and general legal terms, remain effective.
We and our licensors retain rights in the service, site design, documentation, marks, and software, excluding your content. These Terms do not grant permission to use the svc.nz or Anphase names or marks in a way that suggests endorsement.
If you send feedback, you allow us to use it without restriction or payment, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission. Separate source-code licence terms, if any, govern your use of published code rather than the hosted service.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, svc.nz is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose, preservation or recoverability of content, compatibility with every client, or that security controls will defeat every threat.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies a guarantee, right, or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any rights that apply under New Zealand consumer law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party is liable to the other for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, opportunity, goodwill, or data, arising from the service, even if the possibility was known.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Anphase Ltd’s total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the hosted service and these Terms is limited to the greater of: (a) NZ$100; or (b) the amount you paid Anphase Ltd for svc.nz during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited. If you acquire the service in trade, and both parties are in trade, the parties agree to contract out of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and sections 9, 12A, and 13 of the Fair Trading Act 1986 to the extent legally permitted, and agree that doing so is fair and reasonable.
We may update these Terms as the service or law changes. We will publish the new date here and, for a material change, use a reasonable additional notice where an account contact channel exists. Changes apply prospectively from their stated effective date. If you do not agree, stop using the service.
New Zealand law governs these Terms. The courts of New Zealand have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory right you have to bring a claim elsewhere.
These Terms and the policies they incorporate are the entire agreement about the hosted service unless we both agree to additional written terms. If part of them is unenforceable, the rest continues. A delay in enforcing a right is not a waiver. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it as part of a genuine restructuring, financing, or transfer of the service.
The contracting entity is Anphase Ltd, New Zealand. Email svc@anphase.co.nz for questions about these Terms. Use the dedicated abuse process for content reports and the security page for vulnerability reports. Do not include a live capability in ordinary email.
